![]() | SAMSON: God made one Arabian to stand above the others and named him SAMSON.Like the biblical Samson he was like none other, he was tall, muscular, and beautiful. He stamped his foals like cookie cutters and they too stood above the rest.Sam won many, many awards, our most cherished was 2 time Get-of-Sire Champion against national champion horses. We even walked the mares in as they looked so different from one another, yet the foals were identical. Sam didn't care for showing so we decided not to do it. He did enjoy the stallion presentations, and his foals all loved to be shown and ridden. When you see a horse at your local class A's, Regionals, or the Nationals that is well over 16 hands and is so remarkably typey, feel free to ask the rider if it is by SAMSON, it usually is. Sam lives on with us today through his offspring, we sure miss you Sam. |
![]() | JEWEL was a striking chestnut mare with soft eyes and a long, long flowing mane.Jeanne of Brandywine Arabians brought her for training years ago, and both of them ended up staying. Jewel was opinionated in many ways, but if you were smart and consistant in her training you always got what you asked for. Jewel passed on at the ripe old age of 28 years. She never looked or acted her age, she was full bodied and would race around the field with the other younger mares, and to guess her age, you might say early teens. At 26 years old she had her last foal by SAMSON, their first colt was named Brandywine Royal. At 24 years she had a Samson filly who is named Brandywine Lace, and at 22 she had a Samson filly named Brandywine Satin. These offspring are still here at the ranch, as you walk down the isle you see Jewel's eyes peeking out at you, a soft nicker as you pass by, some in Jewel's own voice. Jewel was in a movie, many Class A shows, trail rides, but mostly she is in our hearts. |
![]() | Benah Chelem was one of Samson's first foals. We owned a lovely mare named Maleeta and Aracom decided to buy her in foal. The first foal they got was Benah Chelem, it meant "Big Dream".Ben grew so fast we nick named him Stretch! At 2 years he was judged in hand, European style, one of the Dressage judges couldn't say enough good things about him.Ben was spectacular, even taking him to the vet for his export papers caused a scene. The vet was most impressed by this lovely colt. Ben sold to Canada where we heard glowing reports of wins and Championships. As sometimes happens the unexpected occurs, Ben coliced and had to be put down.We know that Canada now has one less bright star. |
